Once you have seated the participant as described in Preparing the participant and have adjusted participant feature settings as described in Adjusting eye detection settings then the baseline measurement procedure can be run.

The purpose of the baseline measurement procedure is to estimate the participant’s interpupillary distance (IPD), the iris diameter of both eyes and the baseline pupil diameter of both eyes.

To run the baseline measurement procedure click the Baseline button or press b or B.

On the test screen, a target will appear in the center, with vertical bars left and right of the target. The distance between the two bars represent a measure of focus. When the participant’s eyes are at the camera’s focus distance, the bars will be near the target. When not in focus, the bars will be further apart. Try to get closer to the sweetspot by moving the participant’s chair forward or backward.

When all set, tell the participant to sit still and watch the center of the target until it disappears.

Hit Enter or space to start the actual target presentation and measurement. If the measurement is noisy the procedure will automatically be repeated once.

On succesful completion of the baseline measurement, two info signs will appear below the Baseline button. Hovering the mouse cursor over these signs will show the baseline results in the help area.

Hovering the mouse cursor over the first info sign will give you the IPD, the iris size and pupil size for the assumed focus distance. Hovering the mouse cursor over the second info sign shows pupil and CR noise measurements.

See Baseline in the Eyevec-control user manual for example output.
